From the mighty 45-piece London Gypsy Orchestra emerges an outstanding new
ensemble, led by virtuoso violinist Gundula Gruen. This group of 15 dynamic
and dedicated musicians performs with passion the folk and Gypsy music of
Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
Delighting with their inspired arrangements and irresistible rhythms, the LGO’s
professional ensemble leads audiences on a musical journey stretching across
time and geographical borders. With energy and enthusiasm, they breathe
new life into songs, dances and instrumental tunes, creating electrifying and
unforgettable performances.
major venues and festivals including the Union Chapel, the Tate Modern, Cecil Sharp House, St George’s Bristol, the Carling Academy Oxford, Dorchester Festival, and the Pulse Festival on the South Bank, as well
as educational projects for Gypsy/Roma/Traveller History Month. Recently the orchestra was featured by Turkish State Television on their new music documentary Farklı Kültür, Ayne Muzik (Different Cultures, Similar Music).
